Beauty Zodiac

Do you follow your horoscope, and adjust your life accordingly? Are you like me and tap your toes just waiting for Susan Miller to post your monthly scope on AstrologyZone? If so, then you totally understand when I tell you that you need to be adjusting your beauty routine according to the stars, too.

Uber hot Scorpio via The Sixth Leaf Clover

Not me, but another uber hot Scorpio via The Sixth Leaf Clover

And, Bryce Gruber, over at The Berry, talked to an astrologer who broke the whole beauty zodiac down by the signs. Now, I’m a Scorpio and this is what it said I need to pay attention to:

“Sultry Scorpios have the ability to hypnotize people with their gaze so they should make sure their eyes are always on point. Lining them with a chunky kohl pencil liner in an unexpected jewel tone will keep onlookers mesmerized and inspired.”

LET ME TELL YOU! This info is on point! If there is one thing to know about me, is that I do not wear black eyeliner ever. I think it looks too heavy on me. So, I have replaced it with jewel tone liners – purples, greens, dark blues, with some bronzes thrown in for good measure, over the years.

Thanks for letting me know I am owning my sign, Bryce.

Leonor Greyl, “The Artist” and Jean Dujardin

The only thing better than a handsome, foreign-accented man looking dapper in a tux, is an Academy Award winning, handsome, foreign man in a tux, with good hair!

Leonor Greyl knew just how to make me happy this award season by making Oscar winning actor Jean Dujardin look so good. For his big night at the Oscars, celebrity hair stylist Louise Moon made him look dapper by first using Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice in his hair, then some Huile de Palme for gloss and finishing with a spray of Laque Souple light hairspray to hold for the night.

Leonor Greyl also makes me happy with this short film, showcasing their products, in the style of “The Artist”:

Didn’t Jean look GOOD at the Oscars? And isn’t this mini-movie just charming? It even has a cute dog!!

Reese Witherspoon at the 2012 Golden Globes

I’m not one to really post about award show looks, but after seeing Reese Witherspoon’s hot look at the 2012 Golden Globes, I just had to tell you about it.

The way I described it on twitter was:

See what I mean? Amber referred to it as “JBF hair”, which pretty well sums it up. It’s just that Reese always seems to look more serious and strict when it comes to her red carpet choices, so it was nice to see here really just relax and seem to have fun with it. (*even if she might have had some bodice issues once in a while).

I heard that Frederic Fekkai Stylist Adir Abergel did her hair with the COIFF™ Océanique Tousled Wave Spray ($25), Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream ($25), Fekkai COIFF™ Sheer Hold Hairspray ($25), and Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist ($25).

He started by using Fekkai COIFF™ Océanique Tousled Wave Spray throughout dry hair. He then used a small amount of Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream, applying it to the ends of hair to create a moisturizing seal. Using a medium round brush he blow-dried the hair with volume. He then wrapped the hair around a one inch curling iron using slight tension to create loose waves. This process was repeated around the head. Lastly, Adir took the hair at the crown of the head, pulling it back for a Bardo-style bump. He finished the look with Fekkai COIFF™ Sheer Hold Hairspray for hold and Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist for shine.

What do you think of her look? Love it? Hate it? I’m pretty sure I would like to get my hair to look that way the old-fashioned way first, but if it’s not possible, I’d probably give the Fekkai way a try. 😉

Mally Beauty QVC TSV 9/23/2011 – “Defend Your Beauty”

As you guys know from twitter, on my last day in NYC last week I attended a breakfast hosted by Mally Beauty herself, Mally Roncal. Now, I am an unabashedly vocal fangirl, so, this was a great treat for me. Not only get I get to chat with Mally, I got to see her demo some great techniques & talk about some new product launches. But, I’ll save most of that for another post and show you the ridiculous amount of goodies I was able to bring home to try out and tell you all about, too, courtesy of Mally & her PR team.

But what I want to tell you about first is that today, Sept 23, 2011, Mally is the “Today’s Special Value” on QVC, with her “Defend Your Beauty” 7pc kit. This kit was one of the things I brought home, so I wanted to show you some pics to help you decide if the kit is right for you.

The kit includes:

  • 0.12 oz Volumizing Lip Gloss in Flirty (a golden-pink shade)–Exclusive to QVC until 3/23/12
  • 0.01 oz Evercolor Automatic Eyeliner in Black Cherry (a deep black plum shade)–Exclusive to QVC until 3/23/12
  • 0.21 oz Face Defender Highlighter in Gorgois Glow (a champagne shade) –Exclusive to QVC until 3/23/12
  • 0.21 oz Face Defender Blush in Pink Perfection (a pink shade)
  • 0.41 oz Face Defender in Clear
  • 0.06 oz Evercolor Shadow Stick in Violet (a purple shade)
  • 0.39 fl oz Volumizing Mascara in Black
  • Sponge
  • Bag
  • When you look a little closer at the products you might be a bit worried about the colors – don’t be. I can tell you that the gold in the Volumizing Lip Gloss gives just a hint of sparkle and doesn’t overwhelming make you look all OG (*over-gold). The blush looks bright, but it really does blend down to a pretty natural flush color & the hightlighter just gives you a bit of glow, not glowY, if you know what I mean. Of course you know that the Face Defender is colorless because you remember reading about my love for it here, right?

You know what? Why don’t I just show you what I mean with the colors. The hightlighter on the far right just glows. I applied the blush very heavy at the bottom so you can see how I blended it in up top. I put the gloss on heavy so that you can see the barely there gold & the also the pink color. And you can see how nicely the Violet shadow stick works with the Black Cherry Liner. Now, this is on my pale skin, applied heavily – your results will vary depending on how heavy-handed you are on application.

So, what do you think? Are you going to make the call and pick up a kit for yourself? Let me know if you do – I wanna know what you think about the colors, too!

*UPDATE* Just to let you know that this kit is regularly available on QVC, and was not just a One Time Special Value!

“Bloggers Obsession” – A MAC collaboration

*Fair warning – I’m going to be a proud, name-dropping fool in this post because I am so moved by this collab that I want to raise these lovelies up!*

Back in January, MAC invited about 80 bloggers to submit ideas for our dream eyeshadow & lipglosses. Now, I am an appreciator, not a creator, so I didn’t submit anything – knowing that I was going to be blown away by the others creativity. And, boy, was I right!

The amazing colors dreamed up by the 9 lovely bloggers.

Now, you might think that since I’m lucky enough know some of these lovelies, (*ahem, Amber, Lianne, Patrice, and Karen) that I would only like their colors because of that. That is so not true – they really are great colors. The other lovelies I just haven’t had a chance to get to know, that’s all. Besides, have you *seen* “Parisian Skies”? Helloooo, Lesley Ellen! 😉

And *TODAY* is the day!! If you are in the US (*so sorry all you international beauties) you can pick up these eyeshadows and lipglosses on the MAC website. Now, you will have to look under the lipgloss & eyeshadow sections and search for them by name in the pull-down, but they will definitely be there, if they don’t sell out quickly.

*UPDATE* As of June 22nd, there is a direct link to the “Bloggers Obsession” collex under “What’s New” on MAC’s site.

These are what you need to look for and the websites/lovelies that created them:

    LIPGLASSES ($14.50 US/$17.50 CDN)
Makeup and Beauty Blog: “Evolution Revolution”: A warm peachy pink with subtle purple, green and blue micro glitter
Afrobella: “All Of My Purple Life”: A deep purple/grape with subtle sparkle
Beauty Maverick: “Caqui”: A persimmon orange
The Shades of U: “Sonoran Rain”: A deep coral-red with gold and silver pearl
    Nitro:licious: “Nitro:licious 2046”: An intense shiny red

    EYESHADOWS ($14.50 US/$17.50 CDN)
Beauty Blogging Junkie: Sparkle, Neely, Sparkle!”: A deep rusty brown with champagne-colored sparkle
Temptalia: “Jealousy Wakes”: A seething emerald green with teal and gold pearl
Lipstick, Powder N’ Paint: “Parisian Skies”: A muted grey-blue
The Makeup Girl: “Hocus Pocus”: A dark sooty grey with silver pearl

So, what say you – are you going to pick up any of these blogger colors? What do you think about MAC collab’ing with bloggers in the first place? Should they only be reserved to making collex with MUA’s? Lemme know – I’d love to know your opinion!
