The people. First and foremost. Actually, the most.

Backstage at Rachel Antonoff Spring/Summer 2012 – Makeup

I love going backstage at Rachel Antonoff’s presentations, because she always has the neatest ideas for them. Oh, and one of my favorite makeup artists is usually keying it – Keri Blair, for MAC Cosmetics.

In this backstage interview, Keri tells me about the look and the inspiration for Rachel’s Spring/Summer 2012 presentation:

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for that quad to come out – I love me some cream shadows.

Backstage at Carmen Marc Valvo S/S 2012 – Models’ Haircut

Anything can happen backstage at fashion shows. And the models know it. In fact, they come in knowing they are blank canvasses that will be molded into what the designer wants them to look like for their show. This includes their hair.

Backstage at the Carmen Marc Valvo Spring/Summer 2012, Carmen decided that one of the models’ hair was too blunt & after discussing it with famed hairstylist, Ted Gibson, the model got a haircut that most people would pay a lot of money for & didn’t realize it.

Would you let the designer, or the show hairstylist, change your hair – given the opportunity – or do you think you would only let them style it and tell them to stay away with the shears? I know I would let Ted cut my hair any time, any way, that he would want to, that’s for sure!

Backstage at Carmen Marc Valvo Spring/Summer 2012 – Hair

Backstage at the Carmen Marc Valvo Spring/Summer 2012 show, hair stylist Ted Gibson, tells us about the inspiration, and the products used on the models’ hair, for the fashion show:

I love the retro Brady girls vibe of the “All-American Girl” theme that they went with. Of course, an “effortless” look is never really that effortless to achieve, but it looks damn good. 😉

Backstage at Carmen Marc Valvo S/S 2012 – Makeup

Backstage at the Carmen Marc Valvo Spring/Summer 2012 show, makeup artist Romero Jennings, for MAC Cosmetics, tells us about the inspiration, and the products used on the models, for the fashion show:

The feel was for an “All-American Classic Beauty – but completely wearable” look. Romero translated that to be a really strong red lip, contoured eyes, brushed up brows and light mascara on curled lashes. Aside from the fact that he used 3 products on the lips, all of this can be done pretty easily. I’d just throw on a single, bright red lipstick (*if you’ve found your perfect color), and it’s pretty much a daily wear dupe.
