By the time you are reading this, as you can see, I am already in New York. In February. Willingly. It’s New York Fashion Week time again, this time for the Fall/Winter shows. I don’t normally come out this time of year, but I have the chance to go backstage to some amazing shows and do some really fun things, so I couldn’t pass up a trip. Even if it is the middle of winter.

I can’t wait to bring you video and pics from all of my adventures and hope that enjoy the coverage next week, too.

Remember yesterday when I talking about cleansing waters and I reminded you guys of my romance with my Bioderma cleansing water? Well, I thought I would let you know that they also have a vast skincare line, too.
The Bioderma Matriciane Serum: Intensive Regeneration Matrix Concentrate has such a long name that it has absorbed into your skin before you can finish saying it.

This little French beauty says that it “restores the metabolic cycles of the skin, and revitalises it each day with new energy”. Hell, I need to put this all over my body, so that I can get up every day if it can work that miracle, right?

Here’s another thing I like about this serum. It specifically states that it “accompanies and optimises the effectiveness” of aesthetic procedures, ie., peels, injections and lasers. So *that’s* how those French beauties stay so lovely…

However, the downside has always been the availability factor and the lack thereof. You just couldn’t get it locally on a whim. But that has now changed with the release of the MAC Charged Water Cleanser and the NARS Makeup Removing Water.

Both of these cleansers are clear, except MAC has a tint of blue, but not noticeably on the cotton round. They are mostly odorless and tasteless – there is a hint of something that distinguishes it from water, but nothing really perceptible. And they both work really well in removing makeup.

Now, I can’t speak to how they remove waterproof mascara, since I don’t wear it to try it out, but it did remove my regular makeup like a breeze. The main difference that I see is in the bottling – the NARS comes in a 6.7oz squeezable bottle and the MAC comes in a 3.4oz shakeable bottle. I’m used to squeezing to get my cotton round soaked, but, yes that can be wasteful, so some may appreciate the ability to regulate just how much you get out at one time from the MAC bottle. I really feel like this may come down to a brand preference for some.

Both are on counters now. The MAC runs $23USD and the NARS runs $28USD.

In this dry, winter weather, I have found a two-product approach has worked really well to keep the air-dry frizzies pretty tamed – the Aussie Anti-Frizz Cream on the top half of my hair and the Aussie Split-End Protector on the bottom half/ends. Sometimes I have to heat style my hair and I’ll use the Aussie Heat Protecting Shine Spray, but I’ll admit I’m not a fan of the pump. It’s sprays out more as a stream than as a mist, but I like the results, so I’ll put up with it.

Speaking of heat styling, Aussie celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa has come out with a new tool called the Beachwaver. So, using that, and some of the Aussie stylers, you can get those sweet red carpet waves in five simple steps:

1. Immediately after showering, apply Aussie Smoothing Serum to wet hair, which will reduce damage caused by styling tools and protect your hair against frizz all day long!
2. After loosely blow drying hair, separate strands into two sections on the left and right sides of your head and spritz Aussie Heat Protecting Shine Spray directly on each section to create a barrier between the hair and the heat, while adding a natural, sun-kissed shine to the hair
3. Select Left (L) or Right (R) on the Beachwaver based on the side of your head you’re curling. This will control which direction the curling iron rotates to ensure both sides look flawless
4. Clamp the curling iron near the ends of the hair (always start with the clamp facing you so it rotates away from your face) and press the “GO” button to automatically rotate and curl your hair without having to twist your wrist! Release the “GO” button to stop the rotation, wait about 10 seconds and release the clamp. Slide hair off of the barrel for beautiful waves
5. Allow hair to cool before applying Aussie Anti-Frizz Cream for a smooth finish and run your fingers through curls for gorgeous, easy beach waves!
