Makeup Wars: Favorite BB Cream

This edition of “Makeup Wars” has us discussing our favorite BB creams. As we all know, I love me some foreign beauty products, so it should come as no surprise that my favorite BB cream is a legit Asian BB cream. I say “legit” because the Asian BB creams contain a whitening formulation that the US brands don’t include, which I actually need this time of year because of my ruddy cheeks. It’s also a thicker formula, which is more moisturizing for me as the temperatures cool down.

And, just to be weird, this contains nail protein extract, which I have no clue how it’s beneficial, but they say it gives the skin “nascent energy”, and really, who doesn’t want *that* (*whatever that is). And since it’s from Asia, it’s going to be a pain to get here in the US, but if you want to hunt it down, it was around $25USD, as a point of reference.

But if you are curious what I use from the US, my go to lately has been the Maybvelline Dream Fresh BB. Like I said, this doesn’t contain a whitening agent, so it really acts like a tinted moisturizer to me, which is my preferred formula anyway. And, since it’s here in the US, it’s available just about everywhere you shop – big box, drugstore and online for less than $10USD.

Have you guys jumped on the BB cream wagon? What is your favorite one – and do you switch it up due to the weather/season? Or keep on going?

Now, go check out what the other gals have picked as their favorite BB cream:

I like that you ended up with a true Asian BB cream. The American ones don’t feel authentic though some are pretty darn good.

    That bottle is too cute!

  8. retrodiva says:

Is the “whitening effect” worth the extra $$? Does it just even out your skin tone? I need to try this, because my cheeks can get ruddy in the winter, too.

  9. Beauty411 says:

Love the ‘real’ Asian BB Cream! IMHO more of the US ones should be more like that!

I love the Asian ones I’ve tried. Haven’t tried the snail cream, yet… but may try to see if our local Asian beauty store carries one… I think Missha makes a bb cream with snail mucus and some Missha products are found locally. Not sure I’m curious enough to order snail mucus cream from the internet… but I did order the Skinfood sampler and one of them is made with black mushrooms and another has fermented rice extracts which sound delightful!,

    I like Maybelline’s BB too! :)

  12. Hailey says:

Maybellines bb cream is awesome! It feels like your putting lotion on, but still covers up nicely. Just makes my face a little oily, but I’m like, prone to that! Totally worth a few bucks! I wish ot would cover more, but you can apply more than one coat on your face.. I also use a powder to finish up my face :)
