Makeup Wars: Most Expensive Makeup Look

This “Makeup Wars” challenge is a direct response to our $20 Makeup Challenge we did in July – how expensive can you make up your face. Now, I didn’t go shopping specifically for this challenge – this one is a mix of things I really do use on the daily, some things I dug out of stashed stuff that I just can’t bear to use every day and some I just use once in a while. Honestly, some of this was given to me by PR, as presents and some I used my cold hard cash on. As you can see from the pic below, it’s a wide variety of big name brands, some niche brands and even some foreign brands. I’m an equal opportunity product fiend.

Now, last time, I made a video to show you the products I used. This time, I layered so. many. things. on. that a video to show you all of those things would mean you would need to pop some popcorn and get comfy on the couch for movie night. But I am going to give you a list of what I used, broken down by parts of the face. I started the face after cleansing, beginning with my skincare that I used and moving on to my full face and the tools I used to get my look. I tried to use products that were currently available, but my beloved Chanel lippie is no more:

All of this has a total of: $1574.99

I’ll tell ya – I really had no clue that a face could end up like that. Have you ever added up what your fancy face would cost?

And, from what I’m seeing, many of my other Makeup Wars mates blow my total out of the *water*! You need to check them out:

Wow! Your Kevin Aucion brushes are expensive!

    1. Paula says:

  6. It’s apparent I need to get better brushes. You aren’t THAT far off my total though!

    1. Paula says:

I really had *no* idea what my total would be, but I thought my brushes would def push it up. Super sweet brushes are really nice, but even just better than basic brushes can make a diff, too, without the $$, imo. Much of it comes down to skill.

  7. Ragingrouge says:

Aha!  Another Bobbi Brown Corrector lover!  I knew I’d find one sometime!  Can’t live without it!  I’m going to have to get my hands on some of that 3Lab BB.

    1. Paula says:

The BB corrector is a savior! And the BB cream is so creamy good!

When I entre my favourite beauty store I can easily find 20 skin care and cosmetic lines.   What I find is that there are so many brands too chose from I often come home empty handed. How do you suggest I choose a skin care as well as a cosmetic line to stick to for about five years?  Which lines stand out in your mind as being outstanding for what they do?  I would like something that is not too harsh on my dry and sensitive skin, does what it says really well and can be counted on for a long period of time.  What do you suggest?
