April Fools!

In this edition of “Makeup Wars”, we are talking about our Favorite Spring Trends! Now that Spring is here, it’s time to get rid of those Wintertime, pasty blahs and bring out the Bronzer! Nothing is better at brighten up ones face than the warmth of color. It makes you seem more vibrant and youthful, like you have an extra “spring” in your step (*see what I did there?). It’s also super great at helping to accentuate your cheekbones – this really gives your face a more distinct look, instead of just “round”, which is exactly what I have going on, so I was really excited to jump into the Bronze Cheek Hollow look.

Makeup Wars Spring Trend OGB Makeup Wars: Favorite Spring TrendThis look really brings the sunshine to your skin, exactly where you want it – under your cheekbones, to draw attention to the center of your face. That way folks are looking directly at you and aren’t distracted by having to choose between looking at your eyes or lips. In fact, I really think that it is best worn with really minimal makeup so as not to take away from the impact (*as I did in the pic over there). Like, when you wear a bold lip, you wear a neutral eye, or bold eye with a nude lip.

Makeup Wars: Favorite Spring TrendI was really nervous that I might not be able to pull off this look, what with my super pale skin and all, but then I saw Lindsay Lohan rock the look in the courtroom earlier this year and I knew that I shouldn’t have any worries about it after all. As you can see, Linds has really got it down, and I need a bit more practice to get it so sharp. But, really, that’s what trends are all about – how to take a look and make it your own. I really think that I have got a good start in making this MY look for the Spring.

Now make sure and go see what the other lovelies picked as their Favorite Spring Trend this year:

*Partnered Post* Imedeen Results Overall and a Giveaway!

So here we are at the end of my 90-day supply of the Imedeen® Time Perfection anti-aging supplements, and I wanted to recap what I felt my results were after all of this.

One thing about me is that I have a hard time sticking with anything long term – it’s just not in my nature, esp with the amount of stuff that I try on a routine basis. However, this was really easy to add into my nightly routine. But, there was a bit in February when I forgot to put a new sleeve of the vitamins on my nightstand and forgot to take them. After some days, I noticed that my skin was looking a bit sallow and was soaking up more moisturizer than it had been recently. I couldn’t figure out what it was until I realized that I hadn’t been taking my Imedeen® at night. I got back on the anti-aging tablets and within a few days my skin was back to being more supple and softer, so I definitely feel that those were related.

older girl beauty cheek 3 30 2013 *Partnered Post* Imedeen Results Overall and a Giveaway! Another thing that I have noticed while taking these is that the redness in my skin has decreased. Now, I know that Rosacea is partially the dilation of blood vessels in the dermis layer of skin. And, since Imedeen® works in the dermal layer of the skin to strengthen and improve the skin’s invisible building blocks of collagen and elastin, I feel like that it may have worked to help reduce the inflammation and appearance of redness on my face. I took this pic, bare-faced in the morning sun, first thing this morning so you could see what I am talking about.

I also know that my skin all over feels flat out softer and smoother. Usually this time of year, with the wild temperature changes because Oklahoma doesn’t know if it is still Winter or Spring yet, I am usually drier and itchier. This year, I haven’t been as dependent on the lotion bottles to help me cope – it just hasn’t been as needed. I think that shows that the Imedeen® Time Perfection works on, and in, the whole body and not just a facial product, like so many moisturizers.

Is L’Oreal Miracle Blur Just Like Avon Magix?

Lately, I’ve been seeing the commercials for the new L’Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur all over the place. So, when I friend of mine said she had a sample she could send me, I was all “Sure, let me see what this is all about”. And when I got it, tested it on my hand, I was all, “Wait, where have I seen this before?”. Then it came to me. This was just like my beloved Avon Magix Face Perfector that I told you guys about 2 1/2 years ago!

LOreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Avon Magix Face Perfector bottles Is LOreal Miracle Blur Just Like Avon Magix?

Both products claim to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles (*L’Oreal claims to “erase” them). Both products leave a soft, matte finish. Both can be used alone or under foundation. Both have sunscreen – Avon has 20SPF and L’Oreal has 30SPF). Both claim to hold back shine all day (*Avon claims 10 hours).

LOreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Avon Magix Face Perfector Is LOreal Miracle Blur Just Like Avon Magix?

As you can see, both of them give me the same smoothing effect to the lines on my hand. The main difference I can see is the L’Oreal is a bit yellower in color and a smidge thicker than the Avon, but I do find I sometimes need to massage the Avon bottle to “mix” it before I use it. I haven’t had the L’Oreal long enough to know if that will be necessary going forward with it.

All in all, I don’t know that I would call the L’Oreal Miracle Blur a “first-of-its-kind” product since I have been telling you about a similar product for 2 1/2 years, but if you are referring to the description on the bottle of “Instant Skin Smoother”, then I suppose it is technically.

You can find the L’Oreal Miracle Blur at mass market & drugstores now for around $24.99USD for 1.18 fl oz (35 ml). You can get the Avon Magix from your local Avon representative or online for around $10 for 1 fl oz (30 ml), but they regularly have sales. (Also, you can look online at the 17 shade liquid foundation Magix line, too).

*Disclaimer: The L’Oreal Miracle Blur was sent to me by a friend, and as mentioned in the prior post, I purchased my Avon Magix for myself.

Clairol Root Touch Up Freshens Up

updated Clairol Touch Up Clairol Root Touch Up Freshens Up Since I color my hair red, it’s super noticeable when my natural ashy brown and grey roots start growing in. Usually I just try and hide them in a ponytail (*because I am lazy). But, I can’t keep it up in pony’s all the time – not for lack of trying. icon wink Clairol Root Touch Up Freshens Up So, that means I have to color my roots in between my regular coloring.

Now, you already know that I use Clairol Root Touch-Up on the regular. Well, I wanted to let you know that they have updated a couple of things about it recently – the brush and the color tray (bowl), leaving the coloring part itself unchanged. The brush is now a little wider and the handle is angled a bit more for easier holding, and the end of it comes to a point that you can part your hair to get to the grays better. But, I am more impressed with the tray upgrade. The old tray was like a mini-meatloaf pan, a small rectangular shape with tall sides. It worked really well, but I always had to make sure that I was holding on to it when I dipped my brush in it, so that it didn’t tip over. This new one is shaped like a tiny, oval pet dish. Meaning, it is now oval and has rolled over sides to give it more stability. With the new design, I can dip the brush in the color, while my other hand can keep my hair parted and ready for the color application, without worrying that it’s going to tip over, because it’s not.

If you are a regular user, you should already be seeing the new Clairol Root Touch Up boxes at mass market retailers in your area now so you should be able to use’em next time. And if you haven’t tried it yet, why not?

*Disclaimer: This was provided by the company’s PR for editorial consideration to check out the new designed tools, but I spend my own money on this on the regular. My hair grows fast.
