Since I color my hair, I have to fight the dryness, and the heat of the summer didn’t help anything. One of the things that I have found that works for my hair is to coat it in oil when I get out of the shower. And now I’m adding another way to put oil on my hair – while I’m *in* the shower – Dove Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner.
This nourishing conditioner “smoothes dry, rough and frizzy hair” with hydrogenated coconut oil and sweet almond oil, along with dimethicone (*be aware of that if silicones are a no-go for you). It has a yellowish color and is rich enough that it doesn’t run off my hands – it is actually really thicks. I have found that if I keep it in for a longer deep conditioner, it still washes out easily, without feeling like it is weighted down, which is super important for me with my thinner hair. I know that it works with it’s companion shampoo, but I haven’t used that, as I am pretty specific about using sulfate-free color-safe shampoo for cleansing since my red washes out so quickly – I have to make sure to try and make it last as long as I can that way. But, I *have* used the Nourishing Oil Anti-Frizz Serum, which contains the same oils and dimethicone as the conditioner, and I find that it helps extend the smoothing effects of the conditioner.
