With Summer finally here on the calendar, catching up with this cuh-razy!, record-breaking temps we’ve been having, it’s time to lighten up – everything from our clothing, our make-up and even the color of our hair.
When it was time for me to color my hair recently, I decided to try out one of the new Natural Instincts Vibrant colors in Dark Auburn. Now, the Vibrant line is “a permanent hair color option that can lighten your hair two to three levels”, as opposed to my regular demi-permanent color that “offers a subtle change in color, enhancing your natural color”. True to description, my hair did brighten up to a really rich, warm Auburn, but be warned – if you are like me and let your grey roots get a smidge longer than you probably should between colors, yes, they will be 100% covered, but they will be vibrantly colored, too! It’s not a bad thing, I just want you to be aware, that’s all.
Anyway, a coupla weeks later I tried out the new “Color Refresher”, which “is a color treatment formulated to refresh hair color that has faded in the two weeks following the initial hair coloring” (*this sachet comes in every Natural Instincts box now – permanent & demi-perm). There are seven different variations of the refresher, each formulated to work with the color selection in the box, so I knew that the color I got would work – even if it looked screaming orange when I squeezed it out! And, I admit, I kind of applied it like I would shampoo, so it got pretty messy in my shower, so I would rec you applying the refresher slowly to prevent splashage (*yep, that’s a word I just made up, but it works for this). But, when my hair dried, it had definitely refreshed my hair to post-coloring brightness.
While I liked the Vibrant line for lightening up this summer, I would definitely agree that this is a line for women who don’t mind coloring on the regular to maintain that brightness. But, that’s really not that big of a deal since it only takes 10 minutes process time anyway.
So, now that you’ve heard how Clairol helped me freshen up for the summer, let me tell you how they want to help you, too. This July they are going to have a “30 Day Refreshment Calendar” up on their Facebook page, that will include all kinds of health & beauty tips (*from celeb hair colorist Marie Robinson, online influencers and even tips submitted by consumers) and they would love for you to check in to help you refresh your daily life this Summer. They have been kind enough to ask me to contribute my own tips, so be on the look out for them on the 8th and the 20th. No worries – I’ll be sure to remind you on twitter to make sure you don’t miss them.
*Disclaimer: I picked up this haircolor with one of the certificates I won in the NI contest I was a finalist in last year, but I am being compensated for this post and my participation in the calendar. My opinions about the haircolor are still all my own.
