IMG 23091 764x1024 *Giveaway* Getting Deep (Pore) with ClarisonicDo you guys remember when I was in NYC and was tweeting up a storm about the “Evolution of Skin Care” event, hosted by Clarisonic that I was lucky enough to attend? It was there I heard about a a new brush head they were introducing – the Deep Pore Cleansing brush head.

Now, I have had blackheads across my nose since I can remember. And since I don’t get facials on the regular, ie., hardly ever, I take care of things at home – sometimes good things like good scrubs and peels; and sometimes really bad things like manual self-extractions. (*Those always go well. Uh huh.). But the one thing that I use that gives me the best clean is when I use my Clarisonic brush, that I got on QVC a couple of years ago (*5 easy-pays – Heeeey!). In my case I can’t use it that often, but when I do, it makes my skin feels really clean, but it never does that deep down scrubbing clean. Or at least it *didn’t*. That has changed with this new Deep Pore brush head.

So, when I was in NYC, I had a chance to try a true “Triple Oxygen Treatment” facial at bliss spa, to compare with my at home version that I had done. I had a hard time writing about it, because, well, it was so relaxing I slept thru most of it and woke up with amazing glowing skin (*and no post-facial breakouts! Score!), and I didn’t really know how to explain it properly. Anyway, I point this out to show that I had a great “baseline” fresh face – deep blackheads still there, but really smooth skin. Usually, not too long after a facial your skin kind of goes back to how it was before, well, in this case, I have been able to maintain a lot of the smoothness, but also have been able to get down into some of the deeper blackheads using this brush head, reducing the appearance on the bridge of my nose and down the sides. This makes for a very happy girl.

And, I want you to see the deep pore cleansing difference yourself by giving away a Deep Pore Cleansing brush head to you. Oh. You’ll probably need something to be able to use the brush head on, so, why don’t I throw in a Clarisonic Mia Sonic Cleansing System, too? You know what? I was talking to my best friend today, who is traveling overseas, and I bet she wishes she had a Mia to travel with right now. Let’s make sure your BFF doesn’t suffer the same way – let’s give them one, too!

That’s right – I’m giving away a Sonic Mia, with a Deep Pore Cleansing brush head to one lucky reader AND their BFF. All I need you to do is tell me why your BFF deserves one, and I’ll choose the winner. Yes, it’s entirely at my whim. icon wink *Giveaway* Getting Deep (Pore) with Clarisonic And I already know why *you* deserve one, you beauty fiend you. I’ll take submissions until Midnight Friday night, July 29th. (*Sorry, this is for US residents, only!)

*Disclaimer: I received a Mia and the brush head from PR for consideration. I also received the facial courtesy of PR, too.

Five. Five dollar footlongs. Five for fighting. Etc…

So, I realized that an entry I made into a contest was actually a really good look back at some of my favs from this past year and what I would like to try this year, and I figured, hey – I’ve got a beauty website, why don’t we post that damn thing up there, too? (Because I am a genius like that, ya know?).
Without much more fanfare, here are 5 things I came to love this past year and what I wanna love this year:

My Favorite Five:
1) Kate Somerville Exfolikate – I got to try a sampler kit from QVC this year and have just been blown away by how my skin feels after I used it. The tingle is just enough to let me know that something great is going on and makes me feel so clean and fresh afterwards.
2) My travel MAC brushes – I was lucky enough to get a travel set of 5 brushes in a Nordstroms anniversary set. They aren’t as big as the regular brushes (so I can only imagine how good those work), but I have really come to appreciate how much a good set of brushes can make my makeup look and apply.
3) My Clarisonic brush – I finally gave in to the hype as a birthday present to my self (Thank you ezpay QVC gods) and am wishing I had got this for myself sooner. In just no time at all, I can have fresh clean skin that is so much cleaner than I could have ever gotten it with just my little washcloth. (This came with some Kate Somerville Daily Cleanser, which I also fell for in my sampler pack I mentioned earlier.)
4) My Covergirl Lash Blast mascara – Holy smokes – I adore this brush. Its huge and just makes my eyes pop so easily.
5) My Venus Embrace razor – With all those blades and the squishy handle its a breeze to shave and stay smooth for days. (Which is really great in the winter when I really don’t wanna be all tied to the razor every day for shorts, etc.)
And My Wannabe Favorite Five:
1) Kate Somerville Deep Tissue Anti-Aging Treatment – I feel like I am on the hunt for the holy grail moisturizer, and I think this might be a great contender, considering how much I already love her other products.
2) T3 Featherweight Dryer – Once again, all the raves for this and I would love to try it out. It seems to take forever to dry my hair and then, oops, 2 min too long and its all frizz and my arms are too tired to wanna iron it out. Would love to see just how quick and easy this is.
3) Jurlique Biodynamic Beauty Serum – Amazing company in how the grow, harvest and make their own product. It is not easily available locally, but would love to try this serum as it is supposed to do amazing things for aging skin, naturally.
4) Daniel Sandler Watercolor Blush – This just looks too amazing not to try. A waterproof blush that looks so natural in such a range of colors. The link is to QVC, which comes with a brush, but is really limited in colors – hopefully they will add more colors, or else I will just order it from overseas in a diff color.
5) Prescriptives Custom Blend Tinted Moisturizer – I am not a heavy foundation girl, because I have freckles and don’t like to cover them up. However, tinted moisturizers can be difficult to match. That is why I would love to try this, because it would eliminate the guesswork and be a match just for me and not everyone else that walks in off the street.
I guess I better get started – the year is slipping away already…

If the bathroom is a buzzin’…

clarisonic If the bathroom is a buzzin...
..then I am prolly using my new Clarisonic cleansing brush.

I decided that I was finally going to break down and get one of these when I saw it on QVC* for 5 easy payments of $39 for the $195 cost of the brush, the Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash, which I was already loving from my sample kit from earlier this year, 3 brushes and come Clarisonic cleansers. Besides, its the holiday season and I can return it up until January 31, 2009, which gives me plenty of time to decide if it’s going to work out. Anyway, it came in the night before I left for NYC for 5 days and there was no. way. I was going to leave it here, just waiting to be tested out. So, into the suitcase with the whole box.
As soon as I got settled the first night I plugged that bad boy in for the “24 hour charge before first use” charge. Now, remember, I have pretty decent skin, save for blackheads in my t-zone, so that is really where I was hoping to make a difference. So, after I waited all that time (by, ya know, going around NYC and not staring at the blinking green light), I gave it its first run. Boy howdy, did that little devil feel oh so good. It really is a quick treat, with just 20 secs on the forehead, 20 secs on the t-zone and 10 secs each cheek, a quick rinse and that was that – smooth soft skin just like that. After a weeks worth of usage, my nose is starting to show a smoothness that wasn’t there before and the chin is def looking clearer. That said, I am waiting for the inevitable bounce back of mess before it really stays clear, but so far so good.
*(If you stick around, you will see I have a grand affinity for QVC. They have some of the best beauty brands, so many great ez pays, special Q only products/treats and a great return policy if something doesn’t work out – what’s not to love?)
