Beauty Spotlight Mystery Makeup Bag 11/04/2011 – Older Girl Beauty’s Turn!

This time it is my turn to give you guys a peek into my makeup bag. This bag is currently what I have corralled in one place & doesn’t include anything randomly lying across my vanity that I may be testing or just too lazy to put in the bag (*psst – it’s probably the latter.)

my makeup bags oldergirlbeauty 1024x764 Beauty Spotlight Mystery Makeup Bag 11/04/2011 Older Girl Beautys Turn!

Not just one, but *two* pouches to hold my goodies.

As you can see, I have two bags – one for my larger products and one for my pencils & brushes, as I got tired of digging to the bottom of the bag to find them all the time.

In my bag, you will find several of my staple items, and after cataloging it, I realize I *might* have a plum/purple theme going on:

My cute Milly bag holds a bunch of goodies!

Laura Geller Baked Marble Eyeshadow in “Amethyst/Lagoon”
Three Custom Color 3C Eyeshadow in “Cool Peony” (*makes such a great base color)
Clinique travel-size Blushwear Cream Stick in “Rosy Blush”
Elizabeth Arden sample bottle of “Pretty” Parfum Spray (*sometimes you just need a touch-up spray)
MAC “Hocus Focus Clourful Face Kit” from the “Magic, Mirth and Mischief Holiday Collection”. From 2009. (*What? Shut up. “Pretty Baby” is the prettiest beauty powder for me I have found yet. That’s why.)
Sonia Kashuk 01 Powder Brush, with Blue Handle (*One of the first brushes I ever bought many years ago, and it’s still going strong!)
Josie Maran Argan Eye Shadow in “Parfait” (*This makes a great base for those warmer colors.)
MAC Fluidline in “Dark Diversion”, from the “Stylishly Yours” collex. (*Another candidate in my eternal quest for the perfect Plum liner.)
MAC Shadestick in “Street Cool”, from the “MAC Me Over – Icelandic Cool” collex (*Makes a great smudge for a lazy smokey eye, or just a base lid color.)
Mally Beauty Eye Brightening Eye Shadow Duo in “Lavender Glow” and “Plum Glow” (*From the no longer available “Rise and Shine” collex on QVC.)
Three Custom Color Crème to Powder Blush in “Kiss My Apricot” (*I love me some cream blush!)
Sampar Prodigal Pen (*For that last minute, unexpected pimples, without irritation.)
tarte Rise & Shine Lipstain and Lipgloss in “Nude”. (*A warm nude for when you are kind of washed out, but don’t want anything obvious. And it tastes good, too.)
MAC Lipglass in “Lap of Luxury”, from the “Fabulous Felines – Palace Pedigreed” collex (*Looks scary dark in the tube, but is a nicer dark, yet sheer, color for when you go out at night.)
Flirt! Cosmetics Glamourazzi! Extreme Lip Lacquer in “Paparazzi” (*Closest thing to a real Red that you’ll see me wear.)
Three Custom Color Lip Gloss in “Just Bitten” (*This brown sheers out to a nice warm nude.)
Maybelline “Dark Circle Eraser” (*I just love the little sponge tip applicator.)
Maybelline One by One Volum’ Express Mascara (*for when I want the most natural looking lashes)
Mally Beauty Voluminzing Mascara (*for when I want big, spidery, drag queen lashes as Mally would say!)
Maybelline “The Falsies – Flared” Volum’ Express Mascara (*my go-to daily mascara for to big fluttery corner lashes)
Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender (*Duh! What *more* do I have to say??)
Maybelline EyeStudio Color Plush eyeshadow palette in “Spirited Seas” (*I love lining with that copper on the end.)
Maybelline Eyestudio Color Pearls in “Silver Starlet” (*I love the marbelized side so much, I have hit pan and *still* try to get some off of the side of the silver. No joke.)
Boscia BB Cream, SPF 27 PA++ (*This 5-way multi-tasker is heaven for a lazy gal like me to look somewhat pulled together on the quick.)
MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm SPF 35 (*I’m a big fan of MAC’s Prep + Prime line.)
CoverFX ConcealFX Camouflage Concealer (*color adjusts so it blends right in)
Mally Beauty Cancellation Conditioning Concealer (*This one is kinda light on me, so it’s good for those slight pinkish spots that need a quick cover, but nothing layered on.)
Ulta Brow Gel (*still one of my best ways to tame unruly brows on the quick, without needing to draw anything in.)
shu uemura Eyelash Curler (*It’s a classic.)

As you can probably tell, I might have a *smidge* of an eyeliner issue. But, if you pay attention, you might notice one thing some would say is glaringly missing:

inside my pencil case 1024x764 Beauty Spotlight Mystery Makeup Bag 11/04/2011 Older Girl Beautys Turn!

I kind of have a thing for colored eyeliners.

Skinfood Banana Concealer Stick, from Asia (*the creamiest concealer that I have.)
Mally Beauty Brow Beauty brow fix (*I’ve never learned to use a powder, as this does the trick for me.)
Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencils in “Ava” and “Gold Reef” (*Would you believe me if I told you I wore one or the other of these colors at least 5 days a week? True story!)
MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liners in “Marked for Glamour” and “Signature Blue” (*My favorite felt tip liquid eyeliner!)
Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in “11 – Diamond Burgundy” (*part of my neverending HG Plum eyeliner search – the color is good enough for me to ignore the stiff felt tip pen.)
Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eye Liner in “Emerald Glow” (*just enough sparkle, without drifting into Glittertown.)
Daniel Sandler Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner in “Velvet Grey” (*The perfect grey – almost matte, but not flat)
GOSH Cosmetics Velvet Touch Waterproof Eyeliners in “Alligator”, “Purple Stain” and “Blue Moon”. (*If I could marry these eyeliners I would, because they will be true and not leave me for anything. Seriously, these bitches don’t go ANYWHERE after you put them on. My fav bright color eyeliners!)
Bourjois Paris Contour Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner in “grid tecktonic” (Much more amped up silver grey)
Three Custom Color Light Clarifier Pencil (*Everyone needs one of these. That is all.)
Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in “3L – Iridescent Navy Blue” (*Who says a blue-eyed girl can’t wear blue?)
Mally Beauty 24/7 Professional Eye Lining System in “Smoldering Topaz” (*Yes, I know it’s part of a system, but I like it just fine on it’s own.)
Mally Beauty Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in “Gunmetal”. (*Hands down my favorite eyeliner for that dark-but-not-black liner & it. doesn’t. move! Ironic for something to be called “Gunmetal” to be bulletproof?)
elf Studio Eyeshadow “C” Brush (*My most used brush. Of all.)
Bare Escentuals Flat Edge Liner (unavailable now) (*I use this for tiny concealer touch-ups.)
Sonia Kashuk Spoolie
Crown Brush Double-ended Brush (*I don’t use this one, but I keep it in my pencil case, since I can’t store it in my rock filled brush-holder.)
MAC 275SE Medium Angled Shading Brush (*A shorter version of the full-size brush that is great for that windshield-wiper blending action.)
Avon Double-Ended Liner and Shadow Brush (*I think this might be discontinued now.)
Mally Beauty Double-Ended Blending Brush (*I am certain this came with one of my sets, but I’ll be damned if I can remember which one!)
Benefit Cosmetics Get Bent Eyeliner Brush (*My lining world was turned upside DOWN when I discovered this brush. Life changing. And now it looks like it’s discontinued. My preciousssss….)
Avon (*I think!) Eyeliner Brush (*This unmarked brush is really firm and works really good on my drier liners.)
Sonia Kushuk Lash Comb (*The foldable design has saved me many a finger puncture from the metal tines!)

Did you figure it out? (spoiler alert: There is not a black eyeliner in the bunch!)

So, that’s a gander at my goodies (*As the boys like to say) (*In the 1860′s). Tell me – do I have anything you carry in your stash? Let me know what are your daily must have’s, so we can compare. icon smile Beauty Spotlight Mystery Makeup Bag 11/04/2011 Older Girl Beautys Turn!

Let’s talk about Tinted Moisturizers…

I thought I would be able to make a simple video talking about a few new tinted moisturizers that I am liking, but, after digging thru my stash, I knew that wasn’t possible. See, I have a tinted moisturizer habit. I have lots of them, some I am sure I overlooked in my stuff, but I use different ones for different things.

Let’s talk about the ones I pulled out tonight:

I think I’ll start talking about these in separate, individual posts, and include ones that I may have missed this go-round. Products mentioned in this video:

MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm – $30

MAC Studio Moisture Tint – $29.50

boscia B.B. Cream – $38

Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer – $40

BECCA Luminous Skin Colour – $42

American Beauty Youth-Full Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 – $25

Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint – $27

Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal – $36

CoverFX Skintint FX – $42

JOUER Luminizing Moisture Tint – $38

e.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – $3

Milani Tinted Moisturizer – Uhm, oops! Apparently this is discontinued. I saw that it *can* be located on ebay, but by now it’s old enough that we should all get rid of our tubes. My bad, sorry for mentioning it! icon sad Lets talk about Tinted Moisturizers...

Are you tinted moisturizer fans? Have I missed one of your favorites? Let me know what you are using, in case I overlooked it in my stash or I need to hunt it down new.

*Disclaimer: I purchased the e.l.f. and Milani, and received the other products from their PR for editorial consideration.

Happy Birthday/Bloggiversary 2: Electric Boogaloo Giveaway!

spread tRKVFO Happy Birthday/Bloggiversary 2: Electric Boogaloo Giveaway!

Guys, I can’t believe it is already that time of year again! Another year of trying out new products, going to fashion shows, trade shows, trying new services, meeting great new people – and sharing it all with you!

As a token of my appreciation for sticking around to read my ramblings, I want to give you guys a chance to win a bunch of goodies. This year I really wanted to make a point and share with you some of my go to faves – from the “cheaper than lunch” treat to the decadent “you spent how much?”. Here’s what I’m giving away:

  • Eight Body Moisture – Ginger Lime: The fresh scent wakes you up and it feels so good going on. I’m just glad my kid doesn’t like lotion, or he would have taken this along with my body wash. ($24/ea)
  • Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser: Hands down my favorite eye makeup remover. So gentle on the eyes & no weird film left afterwards. I wept when I finished my last bottle. No lie. ($24/ea)
  • Mally Beauty Volumizing Waterproof Mascara: I do not like waterproof mascara, except for this one. Seriously. When I got this one I used it for a couple of months before I even realized it *was* waterproof – it just didn’t feel like other wp mascaras out there. And it makes my lashes look good, too! You’ll get *2* of these, so you can decide to hoard them for yourself or share one with a friend. ($20/ea)
  • Votre Vu Duette: This combo lotion/lip balm is a multi-taskers dream. I may or may not have had words with a TSA agent at the airport when I forgot to check it, since it is a smidge over 3oz. (*Spoiler: I won!) Also, this scent is heavenly. ($39/ea)
  • Mario Badescu Lip Wax: I recently gave my tube up to my friend who had lips like Lisa Rinna used to have due to an allergic reaction. Her situation was dire. I would only willingly give up my tube in emergencies like that. It’s that good. ($5/ea)
  • Mario Badescu Flower and Tonic Mask: Sometimes my face just needs a little TLC, so I’ll slather this mask on for a little soothing. However, last time I grabbed it, I realized I hadn’t closed it properly and it had dried out. I was so devastated I attempted to revive it with tap water. Don’t do that. ($18/ea)
  • Mario Badescu Super Rich Olive Body Lotion: In the winter my legs get really dry and itchy. I squeeze some of this on before bed, rub it all in and the itchiness goes away. Heavy duty, but light moisturize. And it absorbs quickly so my sheets don’t get all gross. ($10/ea)
  • CoverFX MintGlaze FX: This lip primer works great on lips, but it does amazing things on mosquito bites, too. Seriously. I don’t know how, but when I used this on some nasty bites this summer – *bam* – they went away QUICK. No lie. I’m giving away *2* tubes of this, so that you can use one on your lips and one on your bites, since you really don’t wanna mix the two, do you? ($22/ea)
  • Three Custom Color Cream to Powder Blush in “Morning After”: I love cream blushes now. And I know some of you are afraid to try them because you might be intimidated. This almost neutral shade is a perfect way to ease into it, esp since it dries down to a powdery finish anyway. ($22.50/ea)
  • Orlane Paris Extreme Anti-Wrinkle Regenerating Night Care: Yep, this is expensive and oh so decadent. It also feels good and works really well at soothing my tired skin by absorbing fast & not sitting on top of my skin like so many night creams do. It makes it feel like my has bounced back overnight when I use it. Of course, it better for the price tag, right? And I’m giving you a jar to see for yourself! ($300/ea)

You all know I am nosy, so, this year’s contest question(s) is “Have you bought or tried anything that I have written about? If so, what?”. I’m really just curious if anything did so I can know if I am alone in my like for something. Anyway, enter your answer, name and email addy in the widget below, please:

I’ll run the contest from now until midnight the night of the 16th and will announce the winner next week on my birthday, the 17th! Good luck!

*Disclaimer: All prizes are being provided by PR on my, and their clients, behalf.

Priming the palette

Up until a couple of years ago, I had no idea what a face primer was, nor what it could do for you when applying makeup. Well, I have come to learn *plenty* about them now & want to make sure that you do, too.In the video I mention the following primers, and tried to touch on their price points, but I did so with out any notes. I’ll list them here, with links for more details on them, and will list their current SRP:Avon MagiX – $10 (on sale now for $7.95) (*bought this myself)Tricia Sawyer Skin Balancing Water Primer – $34 (*bought this myself)Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Luminizing Face Primer – $10 (on sale at CVS for $7.99) (*bought this myself)Stila Hydrating Primer SPF 15 – $34 (*PR provided)Cover FX Clear Prep FX – $39 (*PR Provided)Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Primer – $38 (*PR Provided)Two Faced Shadow Insurance – $17 (*bought this myself)L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara – $10.95 (*bought this myself)Cover FX Mint Glaze FX Primer – $22 (*PR Provided)I also mentioned, but didn’t show:L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base – $13Urban Decay Primer Potion – $18b15f1197c79c8731 clinique redness protective base.large Priming the paletteI also wanted to mention one that I had forgotten to show in the video, the Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base SPF 15. This is a primer that not only sets your skin for your foundation, it does so by correcting the redness in your skin, with a green tint, if that is one of your problems – $17.50 (*PR Provided)Just so you know, I have only touched on the brands, and availability, of primer products that are out there. I just wanted to at least let you know how much of a variety there is, and how there is definitely one for you and want you need it to, if you decided to start using a primer. Please let me know if you use any of the ones I mentioned or if this compels you to try one – I’d really like to know.
