tarte “Journey to Natural Beauty” QVC TSV

You guys know I love me a good Beauty TSV on QVC. And today’s deal is pretty amazing. It is the tarte Journey to Natural Beauty Six-Piece Collection, today only, for $59.94 (*a $165 value, fyi).

tarte journey to natural collection tarte Journey to Natural Beauty QVC TSV

The collection includes:
(1) Amazonian butter lipstick in “plummy rose”
(1) Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage Broad Spectrum SPF 15 foundation in choice of shades: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan or Deep
(1) lights, camera, flashes! statement mascara
(1) brow architect brow shaper, liner and definer
(1) Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in “fearless”
(1) limited-edition airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush
(1) cosmetic bag (*measures 10-1/4″L x 10-3/4″H x 1/2″W)

I’ve been playing with this collection for a while and a couple of the items really stood out for me and have become staples in my bag lately. First, the butter lipstick – creamy, moisturizing and almost balm like on my lips. And the color is almost nude on me, but just color in it to make my lips look not so pale in these winter months. Second, the brush – holy smokes! The softness this brush was so good that I just sat around brushing it on my cheek and arm for many days before I even moved it to the bathroom to use to put my makeup on. I just wasn’t ready to dirty it up yet. And then, when I finally DID use it – it buffed my foundation whisper smooth. And the bag – it has already become my new travel makeup bag. Done and done.

As for the other items, the foundation was a true full coverage product. Which means it was too opaque for me and my freckles. But, it felt good on, not heavy like some full coverage can be and it seemed to last a good 6-7hours on me before I saw any fade. It felt moisturizing, without getting all greasy, which was nice on my sometimes dry skin. I wasn’t a big fan of the blush, but that was ONLY because it was too sparkly/shimmery for me – those just never look good on me any more. On you? I bet it would be really pretty. icon smile tarte Journey to Natural Beauty QVC TSV
I need to play with the mascara and the brow shaper some more, because the both look to have nice potential – the mascara has a really nice sized brush head on it and the brow pencil is multi-purpose in one stick.

So, if you are looking to add some new tarte products to your stash, or even just wanting to get started with them for the first time, I highly suggest you nab this TSV today. What say you? Do you guys already use tarte on the regular?

Celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis was inspired by Kerry’s sequined, structured gown. Here are the steps he took to create her sleek and classic look, using products from John Frieda:

Step 1 – Prep

Spray Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight Semi-Permanent Styling Spray ($9.99 at drugstores), throughout wet hair and comb through to distribute the product evenly.

Step 2 – Style

Blowdry hair straight. Take a flat iron and straighten hair section by section–the heat of flat iron will activate 3-Day Straight, to ensure sleek style that lasts all night long.

Step 3 – Perfect

Smooth Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Crème ($5.99) throughout hair to give a smooth, shiny finish.

BECCA’s blushing Gypsy & Songbird

We all know that I am a fan of blushes that are not powder. That doesn’t mean that I don’t ever wear a powder blush, that just means I am really selective when I do. As my lovely skin ages, I do not like to use a powder that is drying, making me look harsh, of which I am certainly not (*in a scientific study of me, by me).

So, when I had a chance to try these new BECCA Mineral blushes, I had to give them a try. These anti-oxident rich blushes are alcohol, talc and other filler-free – which are common ingredients that can cause a drier finish. It does contain finely milled with micro-fine, illuminating mineral particles to give a luminous glow, with out the glitter that is so not kind to us older lovelies.

These new colors are “Gypsy” (a ballerina pink) and “Songbird” (a peachy pink) – both can look a bit bright in the pan, (*and on my heavy swatches), but they blend out super sheer and buildable. Check out the blushes in natural light:

These are on counters now and run $32USD.

What is your blush preference? Are you a powder only lovely? Or do you layer – cream on bottom, powder on top?

Mally Beauty QVC TSV 9/23/2011 – “Defend Your Beauty”

As you guys know from twitter, on my last day in NYC last week I attended a breakfast hosted by Mally Beauty herself, Mally Roncal. Now, I am an unabashedly vocal fangirl, so, this was a great treat for me. Not only get I get to chat with Mally, I got to see her demo some great techniques & talk about some new product launches. But, I’ll save most of that for another post and show you the ridiculous amount of goodies I was able to bring home to try out and tell you all about, too, courtesy of Mally & her PR team.

But what I want to tell you about first is that today, Sept 23, 2011, Mally is the “Today’s Special Value” on QVC, with her “Defend Your Beauty” 7pc kit. This kit was one of the things I brought home, so I wanted to show you some pics to help you decide if the kit is right for you.

  • Sponge
  • Bag
  • close up kit e1316806179386 224x300 Mally Beauty QVC TSV 9/23/2011 Defend Your Beauty When you look a little closer at the products you might be a bit worried about the colors – don’t be. I can tell you that the gold in the Volumizing Lip Gloss gives just a hint of sparkle and doesn’t overwhelming make you look all OG (*over-gold). The blush looks bright, but it really does blend down to a pretty natural flush color & the hightlighter just gives you a bit of glow, not glowY, if you know what I mean. Of course you know that the Face Defender is colorless because you remember reading about my love for it here, right?

swatches e1316806650278 224x300 Mally Beauty QVC TSV 9/23/2011 Defend Your Beauty You know what? Why don’t I just show you what I mean with the colors. The hightlighter on the far right just glows. I applied the blush very heavy at the bottom so you can see how I blended it in up top. I put the gloss on heavy so that you can see the barely there gold & the also the pink color. And you can see how nicely the Violet shadow stick works with the Black Cherry Liner. Now, this is on my pale skin, applied heavily – your results will vary depending on how heavy-handed you are on application.

So, what do you think? Are you going to make the call and pick up a kit for yourself? Let me know if you do – I wanna know what you think about the colors, too!

*UPDATE* Just to let you know that this kit is regularly available on QVC, and was not just a One Time Special Value!
