As we all know, I color my hair red. Well, last month, I was going down to be a bridesmaid in my BFF’s wedding. so, of course, I had to color my hair to make sure that it was fresh for the pics, for sure. Well, I don’t know what happened, but the regular color that I use made my hair a much brighter hue than what I was going for – I prefer a Dark Auburn, but this was definitely more of a Medium Auburn. I don’t know if the formula was different or if my hair just reacted differently this time, but it wasn’t going to work for me.
I grabbed my current shampoo and started going to town in washing it, hoping to wash out some of the pigment and dull the color down some, as my hair is wont to do after a few washings. (*Red is a bear to keep vibrant.) But, it continued to stay bright, even after 5 or so washings (Yes, I know I was torturing my hair and my head.). Turns out I was using my bottle of White Sands Orchid Bliss shampoo, which is a sulfate-free poo that is MADE to enhance and protect the color. Oh. So, yeah, that would explain why it wasn’t help tone down my color like I wanted it to that day.
As you can see, it is a clear poo with a creamy conditioner that smooths frizz while protecting hair color. It also smells really good, too. It’s available online and at salons in the US, for around $19.50.
Have you guys had a haircolor issue that needed to be fixed? What did you do, at home, to try to fix it yourself? Do you use sulfate-free products if you do color your hair?
