Whish Body Products is introducing a new hair growth inhibiting gel – this one infused with Lavender and including Capislow (*trade name for Chapparel Extract). This scent joins the other three already available: Almond, Pomegranate and Lemongrass. It will be available April 15th at $26 for 7.4oz.

Easy on the eyes

You guys know that I have talked about Talika on the site before. Heck, I even gave away a Beauty of Your Eyes kit in my blogiversary giveaway. Well, one of the products in that kit deserves a post/rave of its own.

Simply put, the Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser is one the most gentle, effective eye makeup remover you will use. Of course, this is merely my opinion, but I think if you try it you could def be persuaded to think the same. It is described as “An oil-free eye make-up remover for waterproof mascara.”. I don’t wear waterproof mascara, so this just dissolves my regular mascara as if it wasn’t there. I know it says its for mascara, but I use it for all of my eyemakeup just as easily.

This is a gel that feels cool to the touch, without any scent. It is not sticky, nor does it leave a film after use. It doesn’t burn or sting my eyes, nor does it blur my vision after I use it. I put one or two pumps, depending how much eye makeup I have on, on a cotton round, fold it over to spread it out and then place it on my closed eye for about 10seconds or so. Then I wipe it away – along with my eye makeup. It may take a swipe or two to get it clean, but that is only to make sure it gets it all, not because there are layers of film to wipe away. As for lash conditioning, my eyelashes do feel softer, but I truly can’t tell much of a difference with anything else. I’m just more impressed by the cleansing, which I think helps them anyway.

Don’t just take my word for it, either. Meredith, from RetroDiva’s Beauty Bar recently had a chance to try it and I think her exactly words were something like, “Holy Crap – that really works! I have got to get me some of that!” (*I may be paraphrasing, as there might have been a curse in there somewhere, but the sentiment is the same). If you do try it/have tried it, let me know what you thought & if you didn’t like it, I would love to know why.

(*I really wish I could remember on who’s site I originally saw this moisturizer on, because I would give them a huge “Thank You!”.)

Now, we all know I am not one to get out in the sun, but I still get dry arms and legs that I need some moisturizer on them – even coming in from the heat. When I read about Avon’s Skin So Soft Summer Soft Cooling Gel Moisturizer (*gawd, that’s a hell of a long name), I knew I had to try it.

I can’t stand a heavy moisturizer during the heat of the summer – it just makes me feel like I am smothering in it. That is what makes this so good – it is a gel and goes on so light. Since I keep it in the fridge, it goes on so cool that it can make my body temp feel like it goes down at least 5 degrees or so. Now, I don’t know if that is the case (*i’m betting it’s not), but it still feels so good.

It contains Aloe and Cucumber and had a light scent which goes away pretty quickly, after it’s absorbed. Now, we know I love me some Cucumber smell, but this isn’t really as detectable as that, just mostly a light, fresh scent.

I picked mine up earlier this summer on sale, but I see that they are running a 50% off “While Supplies Last” special for $3.99/6.7oz tube. If you are live anywhere like I do, even tho the calendar says summer is almost over, we still have some heated days ahead of us, so I would try to pick this up while you can, just to cool off and get rid of the heat dryness for now.

I don’t use face masque all that often. But when I do, it is usually a gel based one versus a clay one. I don’t have a big problem with oiliness (knock on wood), but I do like a deep cleanser every once in a while. Esp, since this heat causes me to sweat (*no, I don’t glisten or glow – momma sweats, that’s all there is to it!), which in turn causes the possibility of clogged dirty pores. Yes, I use my Clarisonic brush, but sometimes you need/want a little more.

So, again, I have found another great way for me to lay naked under the fan and watch crap tv in the name of beauty – the Exuviance Rejuvenating Treatment Masque. They say, “This powerful deep cleansing masque combines a clinically proven blend of concentrated Alpha and Polyhydroxy acids (AHA/PHA) that offer full-strength anti-aging benefits without irritation. Gluconolactone, a potent Polyhydroxy Acid decreases lines and wrinkles by strengthening the skin and building the dermal matrix so skin appears fuller and plumper. I say, “This gel has a slight cucumber smell that smells nice and when you put a thin layer on your face, neck and decolette, it dries to a kinda rubbery sheath you can pull off in strips, or you can wipe off with a warm wash cloth.” It doesn’t dry all hard and pulling at your face. It didn’t make me itchy, but be careful of your hairline, as it will cling on to your hair if you don’t get it all. And when you put it on cold, it feels oh so refreshing, which you can’t really say or do with a clay mask, because it would harden up in the fridge and be a pain to put on – literally.

You can pick this up online for $26 for 2.oz. I managed to get mine in a BeautyFix kit (*have you signed-up for that yet – I’m serious, the deal is crazy good for the products) which made it a heck of a deal for this masque.

Holy crap, it’s hot.

I am not even playing. These triple digit temps here in Oklahoma have been miserable. (*what did I say the other day? 104 should only be the answer to what is 52 + 52.) Granted, while it’s a chilly 94 today, I *know* that the triple digits will be back. It’s Oklahoma. It’s what we do. But, since I have lived here my whole life, I’ve picked up a few ways to beat the heat at the end of the day. And, while the products may change, the thought remains the same.

I have an extra fridge out in the garage, and I have a shelf in the door that I keep a bunch of beauty products that feel oh so good when put on cold.
