In this edition of “Makeup Wars” we are talking about our favorite waterproof products. This is perfect timing what with the temps starting to heat up. I think of these more as meltproof/sweatproof products than pure waterproof products, since I am not that much of a pool going gal, as my pale skin can attest. So, I decided to give you guys my quick and dirty look for the summer, and it will even work at the pool, if you are in to that kind of thing.

Now, I don’t include any face products, because, well, none of those are waterproof & they are just going to sweat off of me no matter what I do, so I barely even try during the warm months. 110deg Oklahoma Summer will do that to a gal.

I always tend to keep my eyes fixed, and these items keep them ready, no matter the moistness:

Mally Beauty Waterproof Volumizing Mascara: If you guys remember, this was one of my “Desert Island” staples, so, if it is good enough for the island, it’s good enough for hanging out by the pool. (*If you are looking for a drugstore WP mascara, you might also remember that I’ve hung out at the pool in some Covergirl LashBlast 24 Hour Mascara, too.)

Maybelline Color Tattoo Gel Shadow: I know I have told you about these over and over and over again, but they really are a great waterproof shadow option, especially for a drugstore brand – the variety of colors are amazing, but I generally keep a neutralish color around so I can play with brighter eyeliner.

Pixi Beauty Endless Silky Eye Pen: These eyeliners are ridiculously great for my eyes. They glide on almost as easy as liquid liner, but with a pencil width and wear. And, their waterproof claim is no joke. I have got an eye that continues to water like a weeping statue, whether from allergies or just to annoy the hell out of me (*which it does). These pencils have become my go-to liner that stands up to my constant wiping, without staining my eyelid, nor fading away after first wipe and comes in a bunch of different, vibrant colors.

As for my lips, we know that we can’t keep gloss or lipstick on for very long, and we need to reapply sunscreen lip products, esp hanging out by the pool/lake/ocean. The one thing I have found that keeps color on my lips and holds up to reapplication of lip wax is a lip stain:

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain: This drugstore goodie is water-based so you won’t dry out your lips and still keep color on your lips while playing in the water. (*Fun fact: I use this to draw on my kids’ face for Spirit Days at school – it wears off overnight and lasts thru sweaty pep rallies!)

So, these are the things that pretty much get me thru an Oklahoma summer. What are some of your favorite waterproof/meltproof/sweatproof products?

And, after you tell me that, go check out what these other lovelies have picked as their waterproof faves:

Makeup Wars: Favorite Masks

In this edition of Makeup Wars, we are talking about our favorite masks/masques – of which I love. I especially love sheet masks and was all set to tell you guys about a bunch of Asian sheet masks that my BFF brought back for me that address all kinds of concerns I didn’t even know I had! But. It turns out that my wonky, weepy eye decided that it wanted to makes friends with Pink Eye again, just like last last year. I totally think it is allergy related, but whatever, it’s annoying and it has turned me into Patchy McPatcherson the Pirate, rocking an eyepatch all over the place lately.

Talika Eye Patch Therapy 300x256 Makeup Wars: Favorite Masks
And because of that, my right eye is feeling strained and my left eye feels irritated from the patch. This means around my eyes need some TLC, so the I’ve been grabbing my go-to eye reliever, the Talika Eye Therapy Patches.

I have told you about these a few years ago. And since then, I have tried other eye patches, like the bliss energizing eye mask, but I keep coming back to these. I keep in stock in the fridge for just in case sitches like this, thankfully. They don’t burn or sting, nor drip in my eyes. I can just chill in bed, or the bathtub and let them sit on my face for as long as I want. I may or may not fall asleep with them on. (*These are also great for airplane trips, too.)

So, I’m going to go back to soothing my eyes, but in the meantime, you should tell me what your favorite masks are and then go check out the other lovelies’ favorites, too!

Makeup Wars: Favorite Cream or Pencil Eyeshadows

In this edition of Makeup Wars we were supposed to list our favorite cream shadow or eye pencil. Uhm, I’m not Sophie’s Choice-ing it over here. Those are two very distinct things to me. Yes, they are both easy peasy color applications, but for me they actually fill different roles. And, you know if my lazy butt can distinguish between two lazy girl products, that is exactly what I am going to be & be a greedy little thing by listing both.

To noone’s surprise, I have another Mally product to share with you, her amazing – to me and according to all of her QVC Beauty Viewers Choice awards, many other people’s favorites – “Shadow Sticks”.
Mally Beauty Shadow Sticks pile Makeup Wars: Favorite Cream or Pencil Eyeshadows

I’m not even going to attempt to pick out my favorite of this pile, because I don’t even think I have all of mine in there. But, I will tell you about the two different kinds of Shadow Sticks that Mally has – her “Evercolor Shadow Stick” and her “Age Rebel Shadow Stick”. Both of these products are long-lasting formulas that are your shadow, primer, and can be used as a liner, if you feel like it. The main differences are that there are at least 24 colors in the Evercolor shadow stick and the Age Rebel has anti-aging properties and comes in 6 colors.

I will give you fair warning, tho. These shadow sticks do tend to go on the shimmery side. I don’t mean with glitter fall-out, I just mean they are bright, glowy and definitely not a matte shadow. These are great on their own with a liner, or even playing with one or more at a time. I don’t generally use these as a base for shadows myself, but I know they can be a good primer for a powder shadow, too.

Now, when it comes to cream shadows, I am sold on the Maybelline 24-Hour Cream Shadows.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Makeup Wars: Favorite Cream or Pencil Eyeshadows
I know I told you guys about them before, and since then they have expanded the color range. And, they now have a habit of introducing Limited Edition colors, so be on the look out for those, too, at pretty much any mass-market retailer or drug store. I do tend to use these as bases for powder shadows when I want to layer with a powder shadow (*esp with the matte shades), but I am absolutely not opposed to just dipping my finger in there and swiping it on my lids and head out the door with a coat of mascara. In fact, that is how I prefer to apply it, as I feel like I get a more uneven application with a brush. Or maybe I just like smooshing my eyelid. Whichever.

So, these are my favorite cream products that I used on my eyes – can you see why there was no way that I was going to be able to narrow that nonsense down? And now you should go see what the other lovelies declare to be their favorite cream or pencil shadows:

Makeup Wars: April Fools’ Day

In this edition of Makeup Wars, we tried really hard to pull your legs with our “Spring Trends”. Hopefully you realized that with my post yesterday about the “Bronze Cheek Hollow” I could ONLY be fooling, what with my inherent fear of Bronzer (*my pic is my idea of what would happen with me every single day!).

And, I am pretty sure that there is NOTHING I would want to emulate from Lindsay Lohan, except to have been awesome enough to have Tina Fey write a movie with me in mind. But that’s it.

Now, go make sure that you saw all of the “trends” from the other lovelies:

Makeup Wars: Favorite Spring Trend

In this edition of “Makeup Wars”, we are talking about our Favorite Spring Trends! Now that Spring is here, it’s time to get rid of those Wintertime, pasty blahs and bring out the Bronzer! Nothing is better at brighten up ones face than the warmth of color. It makes you seem more vibrant and youthful, like you have an extra “spring” in your step (*see what I did there?). It’s also super great at helping to accentuate your cheekbones – this really gives your face a more distinct look, instead of just “round”, which is exactly what I have going on, so I was really excited to jump into the Bronze Cheek Hollow look.

Makeup Wars Spring Trend OGB Makeup Wars: Favorite Spring TrendThis look really brings the sunshine to your skin, exactly where you want it – under your cheekbones, to draw attention to the center of your face. That way folks are looking directly at you and aren’t distracted by having to choose between looking at your eyes or lips. In fact, I really think that it is best worn with really minimal makeup so as not to take away from the impact (*as I did in the pic over there). Like, when you wear a bold lip, you wear a neutral eye, or bold eye with a nude lip.

Makeup Wars: Favorite Spring TrendI was really nervous that I might not be able to pull off this look, what with my super pale skin and all, but then I saw Lindsay Lohan rock the look in the courtroom earlier this year and I knew that I shouldn’t have any worries about it after all. As you can see, Linds has really got it down, and I need a bit more practice to get it so sharp. But, really, that’s what trends are all about – how to take a look and make it your own. I really think that I have got a good start in making this MY look for the Spring.

Now make sure and go see what the other lovelies picked as their Favorite Spring Trend this year:
