Beauty Spotlight “What’s in my…” – My Mom’s Turn

Moms Vanity Beauty Spotlight Whats in my... My Moms TurnIn honor of Mother’s Day in the US next weekend, I thought I would give you a peek into my lovely Momma’s bathroom cabinet. As you can see, there are many MANY brands that are available on QVC – my mom is the one that introduced me to my dirty little secret the shopping channel.

Some of her favorites, including some not purchased from the tv, are:

  • Dr. Denese SPF 30 Defense Day Cream
  • Philosphy “Amazing Grace” Spritz, but really anything in that scent
  • Elizabeth Arden “Red Door” – this has been her go to scent for I don’t know how many years now
  • RoC Skincare Deep Wrinkle Serum
  • Laura Geller Tinted Under Make-Up Primer, and she also loves the Balance N Brighten, too (*not shown)
  • Lierac Gentle Cleansing Water No-Rinse Formula for Face and Eyes (*no longer available, but now she keeps sneaking peeks at my new “Velvet Cleanser”)
  • Philosphy “The Oxygen Peel”
  • Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Face Serum (*pretty sure this was my bottle that Mom swiped after she finished hers)
  • I would like to point out the DIY pencil/brush holder I made for my mom with beads and a rectangle vase from Hobby Lobby. My mom has neuropathy in her hands, so it is very difficult for her to pick small things up off of flat surfaces. This holder makes it so much easier for her to grab her brushes and her eye products, as she is NOT giving any of those up. Especially these:

  • RevitaBrow – (*remember when I told you about my mom and RevitaBrow?)
  • Laura Geller Brow Marker
  • Smashbox Brow Tech To Go
  • Mally Beauty Automatic Eyeliner in “Black Cherry” (*of COURSE there is Mally in there, and I was *wondering* where that color went…)
  • So, I don’t think it is too hard to figure out where I get my love of beauty products (and QVC), do you? Tell me – do you get your love of beauty from your Momma, or has she picked up a few tricks from you?

    In a rush for Mother’s Day…

I’m not one you would call “a person who plans ahead”. I may have a vague outline of what I want to do, but it never fully comes to fruition until, say….right when it needs to get done? Yeah, so gifting sometimes ends up the same way. Maybe, just maybe you are a little like me, so I thought I would give you some ideas that you can run out and grab and still look like you “planned” that gift to make your Momma feel special. I promise I won’t tell her any different.Oh, and just an FYI, these really are things I’m considering for my momma, based on what she likes. And, yes, I’m willing to pay the expedited shipping charges if I decide on one of the online products. The price of being a procrastinator. *sigh*Estee Lauder Golden Alligator Compact.preview In a rush for Mothers Day...

    Estee Lauder’s Golden Alligator Compact

“The Golden Alligator Compact is a sleek, stunning compact ideal for the on-the-go touchups throughout the day. The textured, refillable golden compact hold Lucidity Translucent Pressed Powder to provide a luminous, fresh finish.”

This compact is so pretty, I am certain my mom would be whipping this out to touch up more times a day than nescessary. It is available at counters and online for $33.

Laura Geller “Eye Dream of Italy” Deluxe Baked Kit

Well, I sure can’t send my momma to Italy for Mother’s Day, but maybe I can bring a bit of Italy to her. Laura Geller went to Italy and was inspired to create this kit of baked goodies for $60, available on QVC.

My momma just loves Laura’s products & I have even swiped some of her eyeshadow’s for myself.

In a rush for Mothers Day...

Mally Beauty Travel Time Diva Collection

I can not say enough good things about Mally Roncal and her products. (*Would this be a great time to remind you that I had a chance to meet her last fall? I think so.) Seriously, her products really are good – I have been rocking her volumizing mascara for a while now. Remind me to tell you more about it….

Anyway, Mally has this “Travel Time Diva Collection” for $65 on QVC. It includes her fab mascara, 2 Starlight eyeliners (*love), lip glosses & a lip fence in a little bag so your mom can be out the door, running around like the Diva she is.

In a rush for Mothers Day...

    Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT scent

Let me say that when I had a chance to try this out I knew *immediately* why it was a multi-award winner. It just smells that good. It’s fresh, clean, light, but not in an overly floral annoying way, in my opinion. (*of course, we know I don’t know too much about fragrance “notes”). And, because my favorite color is Blue, I was all about the bottle, too.

So, since I am greedy and know that I don’t wanna share this with my momma, but I’m nice enough to want to make sure she knows how good it is, I may be picking up a bottle at Sephora for $57.

Elizabeth Arden Anniversary “Red Door” Candle

Do you remember me talking about the Limited Edition “Red Door Red” lipstick that Elizabeth Arden came out with to celebrate their 100th Anniversary? Well, they also came out with this candle that smells like “Red Door” and is in a porcelain canister that can be saved after the fact. It runs $29.50 online and I’m not certain if they are at counters or not.

Now, “Red Door” is my Momma’s *favorite* scent to wear, this is a FACT. So, when I had the chance to try this, I KNEW one of the things that Momma was going to get. I say this so that if your Momma is like mine, and you have probably gotten her a bottle of “Red Door” in the past, she will love this to scent her room, instead of spraying her scent all over everything instead of herself, just to make everything smell nice. Plus, she’ll like she can keep the canister, too.

    Company’s can care, too

Corporate Responsibility: “The concept that an organization has obligations not just to conduct its business and adhere to legal guidelines, but also to look out for the welfare of its employees, the community, and society at large.”

So often we don’t hear about what a company does to give back to society, it’s generally handled internally and everyone moves about their business. Luckily, in the beauty arena, we get to hear about some of the great things that companies do to help out in their communities, states, countries and even overseas. There are two programs going on right now that I want to spotlight: MAC and Elizabeth Arden.

MAC Cosmetics established their “Viva Glam” campaign in 1994 – it supports the MAC AIDS Fund, which supports men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS. It does this by donating all monies from the selling price of their Limited Edition “Viva Glam” lipsticks & glosses each year. They have featured many famous people to be their spokesperson (*from Fergie to Dita Von Teese & RuPaul, to name a few). This year’s spokepeople were Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga, each with their own shade. You can check out what they look like in my video, if you haven’t seen them yet. You can pick them up at any MAC counter or online for $14.

Marking their 100 years beauty innovation, Elizabeth Arden is releasing a new Limited Edition Anniversary lipstick – “Red Door Red” – “a universally flattering, sheer lipstick, the Red Door Red hue stylishly represents strength and femininity – a beautiful way to pay tribute the Elizabeth Arden woman”. This lipstick is packaged in a luxurious gold case, and offers a triple-emollient moisturizing formula that contains vitamins A, C and E, along with aloe. It can be picked up at counters , where available, and online for $20.

Miss Arden believed in total beauty and in honoring that, all of the proceeds from the sale of this lipstick will go to benefit “Look Good…Feel Better”. “This organization helps to improve the self-image, appearance and quality of life for people undergoing cancer treatments by teaching beauty techniques, which help them to cope with the beauty-related consequences of cancer and boost their self-confidence.”

Please consider supporting these programs by treating yourself to a new lippie – it will give you another reason to smile.
